Seems decent, some pros and cons. You will need to buy an appliance cord
Got this Hetraroot heater to replace a really nice HeatStorm heater that finally died after 5 years of regular use. The new heater seems to heat appropriately but has some pros and cons.Pros: Has a remote (nice!) and turns on manually using a knob, rather than a switch (the part that failed on the Heat Storm). It’s also nice to be able to adjust the heat levels, but frankly, as I use this on an outdoor screened-in porch to be able to sit out earlier in the spring and later in the fall, I’ll probably always just keep it at the highest setting. Another pro is the wide heater element, slightly wider than our last heater. Lastly, there is a timer function, which may be nice for some, but is a feature we’ll never use on the porch, as we’ll just turn it off and on when we’re actually out there.Cons: The tripod is much lighter and flimsier than the HeatStorm tripod, so I’ll have to handle it with a bit more care. In other words, may not be suitable for outdoor use in a windy area. The heating unit on top of the tripod is not easily adjustable–you have to loosen the wingnuts with a wrench every time you want to change the direction of the heater slightly. The HeatStorm could be easily tilted up and down without a big production. Lastly, the cord on this unit is ridiculously short, less than 4 feet long. When the tripod is fully extended, the cord doesn’t even reach the floor, much less an outlet. We had to invest in an additional 12 gauge, 10-foot outdoors appliance cord just to be able to plug this unit in safely. Nowhere in the product description does it describe the ridiculously short cord, so be forewarned.If I had known all the cons, we might have selected a different unit, but I’ll be happy with this one and make do with its flaws if it lasts 5 years like the HeatStorm.

Good heater (for almost 2 months before it became a fire hazard), needs a better mount
Update from 2 stars to 1. The heater was nice for almost 2 months and then it tried to start an electrical fire. It was not stressed. It ended up being used almost exclusively in a garage for short periods mostly. There is no reason it should have failed besides poor quality. It should never have failed so dramatically. You could hear the electric component pop, the light faded, and the smell was overbearing. I had to air out the garage for a while. Whatever happened drew a ridiculous amount of current. The plug and receptacle were hot to the touch. I guess I’ll see what the manufacturer does but it’s hard to justify replacing a fire hazard with one that was built just like it.The good.The heater works well. Puts out enough heat for my wife and I on a narrow balcony. The knob/button is robust and can be used with gloves.The bad.Everything that isn’t the heater is trash. The tripod is cumbersome and poorly made. It’s a pain to use. I’ll have to find another way to mount it. It was missing hardware so I had to go dig through my “bucket o bolts.” Luckily I didn’t need to make a run to the hardware store.
