The Xbox is collecting dust! This is perfect for PC gaming on my 65″ 4K OLED TV @ 144 Hz with VRR!
I am primarily a console gamer. I’ve always known that PC gaming offers a technologically superior experience, but I just love sitting in front of my big screen TV on the couch with a controller in hand and gaming for hours. I recently put together a new PC and was exploring ways to game on my TV without dragging the PC into the living room every day. This cable allow me to connect my PC in my office to my 65″ 4K OLED TV in the living room about 50 feet away. Traditional HDMI cables max out around 10 feet and after that they either don’t work at all or become so laggy that gaming isn’t possible. I had no idea that fiber optic HDMI cables existed and have eliminated this limitation! This was cheaper than an HDMI over Ethernet adapter (which worked, but was limited to 4K at 60 Hz) and works perfectly with no lag. I am playing games like Forza Horizon 5 and RoboCop Rogue City at near max settings with my ASUS TUF Gaming RTX 5070 GPU, and easily running 4K @ 90-144 FPS at 144 Hz with Variable Refresh Rate. Everything is smooth as butter and looks way better than the same games on my Xbox Series X!I also bought an “Active” USB 2.0 Extension cable with a TP Link Bluetooth adapter and a Plugable 2 port USB adapter. This allows me to extend my wireless mouse and wired keyboard to the living room as well and connect my Xbox controller closer to me to avoid lag from the Bluetooth receiver on my PC being too far away. The experience is like playing an Xbox on steroids! With Xbox Play Anywhere, you can play the same games on console and PC with a single purchase, and saves work seamlessly between the two. So now, when a game is available for Xbox and PC, I can buy the cheaper one, play the superior PC version, but still game like I am playing on an Xbox in my living room. I play mostly with a controller, but can switch back and forth to the keyboard/mouse on the fly for precise aiming, easier controls in menus, inventory management, etc..Of note, I saw some reviewers complaining about issues with the cable, or complaining that it stopped working at some point. I bought this specific cable over the others because it has a lifetime replacement warranty, so if it dies, I am fully covered. I’ve had zero issues so far after 4 weeks of (excessive) use, and couldn’t be happier with the new setup. If your TV can handle 4K @ 120-144 Hz and Variable Refresh Rate, this cable is exactly what you need to play PC games on your TV at maximum quality. Just be sure to spend the time to configure your display settings in Windows, calibrate HDR, and configure Game Mode on your TV. Also, Grok was super helpful for giving me optimized in game display settings specific to my setup while avoiding all the usual trial and error.

Thin and flexible.
These were perfect for a longer run from my projector to sound bar and PS5. The nice thing is how thin and flexible they are because some fiber cables aren’t, which would have given me trouble because I didn’t have much space behind my projector, and then I ran them under a rug through the middle of the room, but you can’t even tell they are there. So far they are working great.

Clean at 4k / 60 / 4:2:2
Purchased the 49ft version to connect an Epson 4k LS12000 projector to a Denon receiver/Apple TV combo. Other similarly priced active optical cables have had HDMI dropouts with this setup. This cable has been totally clean in this regard and handles 4k 60fps with 4:2:2 chroma without issue. The build quality is good and was able to be pulled through 40 feet of conduit without being damaged thanks to the small head assembly and strain relief.

Computer to TV Works
Works great to connect my RTX3060 in my computer to my 4k LG TV at 120hz. Audio works great too.

Slow handshake
Hooked up from ps5 directly to Sony a80j OLED. The image took longer than the boot up time of the ps5 to display any image on my TV. When starting a game the entire game boot up process would happen before an image appeared on screen. I thought my TV was off, it took a good 20-30 seconds before an image appeared. My controller was making noise which was supposed to correspond to what was happening on screen. But I couldn’t see anything. That is until I switched over to my decade plus old audioquest cinnamon cable, which supposedly doesn’t support HDMI 2.1, 4k 120hz and vrr and hdr 10… It does. And the image appears instantly when I boot up the ps5. I see the boot screen process. Also game loading screens are visible because it doesn’t take 30 seconds for the cable to figure out it’s time to send a signal. This crushes everything I was told about HDMI. “It’s 1’s and zeros maaaan. Signal is either there or not maaaan.” Well practicality vs theory proves different maaaan. Material and build quality matters. Unfortunately even in the HDMI space you kinda do get what you pay for.

Good for a long run
Using mine from a Denon receiver to an optoma 4k projector. Eliminated on-screen artifacts present while using my prior long cable. No complaints here.

No issues works great with 4k.
I have a jvc NZ 500 connected to a denon AVR. I have no issues and I stream 50+ Mbps from my home pc

Works as it should. The cable is directional. Source and TV have to go to the respective connections. From an Onkyo Nr809 receiver to a Epson 5030UB Projector. 3d works. device control over HDMI works. very thin compared to the cable it replaces. Lifetime warranty.

Works well. I’ve used Monoprice slim run active optical cables in the past. Buying from Amazon.ca made it easier than shipping direct from Monoprice across the border. As for the cable itself, it works fine for 4K/60Hz. When it comes to connecting something over 10 or 15ft, active cables become necessary.

I have had great luck with Monoprice items in the past. They have always been high quality and a good value. That is why this review is out of the ordinary. I got this cable to connect my projector to my AV receiver. Since I have had it I have had issues with the video signal cutting out, but yesterday I confirmed it has been the cable all along. Now being a fibre cable you mustn’t make any tight bends with it, and I have not done so. I’m not sure why this cable is causing issues, but it is the culprit. It is not that I would say ‘do not order this’, but more just be aware if your TV signal keeps dropping out and back in, you might have a bad Monoprice cable too. I wish I would have realized what the issue was when I was in the return period.
