Nice thin and compact scale. It weighs accurate.
Nice little scale. It feels like it’s well built and it seems to weigh accurately. I checked it with the scale calibration weights we use for our postage scale and this weighed all of the test weights correctly. It’s really small and thin for a scale that goes up to 11 lb scale. It’s small enough to store almost anywhere. Length and width are about the size of a small tablet pc, it’s probably a bit over twice as thick as our tablet. It fit easily in the small unused space we had in our cookbook drawer. Our old kitchen scale was a couple of inches thicker than this one. The price isn’t bad for a name brand scale especially one this compact. The battery is a standard size CR2032 coin cell battery, the same size that my car alarm remote and various other items around the house use. The LCD display is easy enough to read. I don’t really like the conversion button being on the bottom. Every other scale we’ve ever used had the button on the top with the other buttons, but the scale is light and easy to flip over, so not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience when I want to switch from grams to ounces or pounds. The liquid volume works fairly well. I used it to weigh milk and water that I’d measured out with measuring cups, the volume conversion was fairly accurate. It would’ve been nice if it had a backlit display and USB rechargeable battery, but it doesn’t, probably a bit much to expect at this price from a name brand.

Accurate with some nice features but the display is not great
This is a very compact scale that seems pretty accurate. I tested it next to my small more sensitive scale and it rounded up so they matched. There is a setting for milk and water that shows you milliliters which I’ve never seen but seems to work when I tested it with water. I can’t imagine whole, skim, reduced milk weighs the same by volume and I only use whole milk so can’t test it. The problem with this feature is I measure dry goods in grams and liquids in cups or ounces. To change from grams to ounces you have to flip the scale over which I don’t see myself doing.The other strange thing is there are four raised areas on the bottom where I assume the weight is taken. The problem is there is a lot of space around them and I can see flour or spilled something getting in there and causing issues. The placement of these also makes the scale tip up when you try to turn it off without anything on the platform. It’s just kind of annoying not a big deal.Overall it’s not a bad value for the money because it seems accurate, looks decent, and smooth top makes it easy to clean. The bottom is going to be susceptible to spills and things though. The biggest issue with this scale is the lack of backlight on the display. It just makes it hard to see.

This is a sleek looking, thin and extremely accurate scale. Having a smooth glass top, it is very easy to clean.It was a bit confusing to use at first, so I had to read the manual. It has three function modes:1. Weight2. Milk3. WaterThe “Weight” mode should be self-explanatory. It measures the actual weight of the item you place on the scale.The Milk and Water settings take some explanation. In those two modes, you place something to contain the liquid on the scale and then press the “Zero On/Off” button to zero out the (tare) weight of the container. You then pour water or milk into the container and the scale tells you the volume measurement of the liquid. If you want to see the actual weight rather than the volume, just press the Mode button until the cursor line is over the word “Weight” on the scale. Interesting. I never had a scale that measures volume before.To switch the units of measurement from grams to pounds and ounces, you press a button on the bottom (back) of the scale. It would be better if this button were on the front.I was impressed with the accuracy of this scale. To test accuracy, I compared weights of many items with another extremely accurate scale I own. This other scale measures to hundredths of a gram, while this Oster scale only measures to the nearest full gram. Every measurement I took on my other scale agreed perfectly with this Oster scale across a range of 1 to 95 grams which is the limit of my other scale. For example if my reference scale measured 48.49 grams, this Oster scale would read 48 grams. If my reference scale measured 48.50 grams, this Oster scale measured 49 grams! This proves that this Oster scale is accurate to 1/100th of a gram, even though it only reads in full grams! This is exceptional accuracy, and why I have to give this scale a 5 star rating. Getting this kind of accuracy at this price range is surprising. This makes it a good value.I also measured a 4 pound bag of sugar to see if it was still accurate at heavier weights. It is. The bag of sugar measured 4 pounds and 0.5 ounce. That half of an ounce is the weight of the paper bag containing the sugar, so once again this scale was right on. I also measured the weight of a 28 ounce bag of chips and it measured 28.5 ounces, which is also accurate when you add the half ounce for the bag. You need to be aware that it actually displayed 1 lb. 12.5 oz., since it only displays in pounds and ounces rather than just in ounces. I would have liked the option to set this scale to display only ounces rather than pounds and ounces, but that feature does not exist.One improvement I’d like to see is for the front two feet to be moved closer to the front of the scale. Pressing hard on the Zero On/Off button or the Mode button causes the scale to tip forward.Another thing I would like to see is an option to set this scale to display in hundredths of a gram or in grains. Since this scale is capable of such extreme accuracy, it’s a shame it does not have this option. This would make it more versatile, such as being able to use it as a reloading scale to measure powder.If they would only upgrade the firmware in this thing to include the different display readings I mention, this scale would be perfect. For a kitchen scale, it’s more accurate than you need.
