A pretty cool scale for automating nutrient calculations
My teen daughter had been using her phone’s calculator every day to tally her daily calories, etc. It was a tedious task. So I got her this scale to make her life easier.The scale is smaller than I expected. It is beautifully made with such a design that you can leave it anywhere without it being an eye sore. It was easy to get started, very intuitive. The measurements are pretty accurate. I have two drone batteries with a know weight of 76 grams, and both measured exactly 76 on this scale, repeatedly. The LCD screen is large and easy to read.To make full use of its potential, you need the phone app. It can scan the barcode of a food item and automatically loads the nutrient content. If the item is not found in their database, you can manually enter the data, save them, and load them later. Very convenient. But like so many apps nowadays, they’re also trying to sell you a subscription plan in the app. I don’t know what exactly that “premium plan”, which costs $50 a year, entails and I don’t intent to find out. I’m just so fed up with this subscription model nowadays.One minor complaint: The rubber foot under the retractable LCD screen, circled in red in my picture, is not at the same level as the other feet under the main body of the scale, circled in yellow. So the extended LCD where the power button is located, ends up like a cantilever and is a few millimeters off the table. When you try to power off the unit or even when you attempt to zero the scale, you end up pushing the other side up into the air. If you use one hand on the other side to hold it, you will mess up the tare function. Very annoying.

A smart upgrade from a basic kitchen scale
I picked up this Ultrean food scale because I wanted something a bit smarter than my basic kitchen scale, something that helps me track nutrition and portions without a million apps and inputs every time. So far, Iโve been pleasantly surprised overall, though there are a few things worth calling out.Right out of the box, the scale feels well built, with a sleek stainless platform thatโs easy to wipe down after use. The display is clear and simple to read, and switching between units (grams, ounces, pounds, milliliters) is as easy as pressing a button, which is nice if youโre bouncing between recipes or meal prep.Where this scale really tries to set itself apart is the nutritional tracking with the companion app. You can scan barcodes or search foods in the database to see calories, macros, and other nutrient info, and the app lets you track daily, weekly, or monthly trends. Itโs not perfect. The database isnโt as huge or seamless as something like MyFitnessPal, but the idea of weighing your food and getting a quick nutrition snapshot in one place does make tracking feel less tedious. One drawback I will note is that the barcode scanning option is very limited without a paid subscription, which is a bummer.As a daily kitchen tool for portion control or macro tracking, itโs pretty useful. I like that it gives me more than just weight and actually provides context for what Iโm eating. If youโre someone who likes to measure ingredients and keep an eye on whatโs going into your meals, this adds value compared to a standard scale. That said, because the nutrition features depend on the app and database quality, itโs not quite as plug and play as the product page might imply. Some foods require a bit of searching or manual correction.Battery life has been fine, and itโs light enough to store easily in a drawer without taking over counter space. Iโd say itโs most useful if you plan to actually use the app regularly. If youโre just weighing ingredients for cooking or baking and donโt care about calorie or macro tracking, a simpler and cheaper scale would probably be enough.Overall, Iโd recommend this to anyone whoโs serious about meal prep, calorie or macro tracking, or just wants a little more insight into what theyโre eating. It feels noticeably smarter than a typical kitchen scale without being overly complicated.

Exactly as described!This new year Iโm planning to eat healthier and loose some weight. For that I need to count calories, and do more exercise. I already have a scale in my kitchen for food weight, but this one is more than a scale. I think that maybe I can reach my goal using it.The instructions for use are easy to follow, also I access an instructional video.I turn-on the scale and started to using it almost immediately. I put one onion over the scale and I got the weight.After that, I downloaded the app and connected my phone. The nutrition app is simple to use, and I can store my information while using it. I put name โonionโ in the app and it gave me the weight, the calories, and other nutrient information in just minutes.Scale has 4 units conversion (g, lb:oz, ml, fl.oz) for solid food and liquids. The scale and the app worked together, but also I can weight the food without using the app.Itโs affordable when compared with similar ones. Itโs of a brilliant black color. I can leave it over the counter because it pairs with my kitchen colors and decoration. Itโs compact, portable, and lightweight. I tried many times and itโs very accurate. My only issue is that itโs not rechargeable, and depends on batteries.Iโm still learning how to use it, but so far, Iโm satisfied with this scale and recommended it.

I bought this specifically to help with my sourdough baking, and it has completely changed my workflow. If youโre tired of messy measuring cups and want consistent loaves every time, this is the scale to get. The precision is spot on. Whether Iโm weighing out 500g of flour or just 10g of starter for a levain, itโs incredibly accurate. The tare function is responsive, which is essential when you’re adding multiple ingredients to one bowl. The Bluetooth connection to my phone is “cool” but also genuinely useful. Itโs so much easier to track my “Bakerโs Percentages” and nutritional data through the app than doing the mental math myself. It is very lightweight and I can tuck it away easily as it is small and portable. It look super fancy and high tech, but it is pretty inexpensive for what you are getting!
